Transitions Academy

The Transitions Academy is designed to assist programs and their partnerships in developing, strengthening, and updating Bridge and ICAPS (Integrated Career and Academic Preparation System) programs by increasing awareness of the expanding partnership between Adult Education and Career and Technical Education as it relates to the ICAPS models, Illinois Bridge programs, and Illinois Programs of Study. The Transitions Academy commences with a convening each fall and persists throughout the year with offerings such as virtual learning communities, mentoring, professional learning opportunities, and communication.

2023 Transitions Academy: Virtual Fall Convening

The Illinois Community College Board presents the 2023 Transitions Academy – Fall Convening as the launch of the yearlong Transitions Academy. This convening is designed to assist colleges and partners working on developing Bridge and ICAPS (Integrated Career and Academic Preparation System) programs and expanding the partnerships between Adult Education and Career and Technical Education as it relates to the ICAPS models, Illinois Bridge programs, and Illinois Programs of Study. Hear from state leaders and experienced ICAPS and Bridge programs.

Teams shared and discussed topics, efforts, and initiatives that can best serve their students, teachers, and programs. Teams included instructors, both CTE/Training partners and Adult Education, administrators, front-line staff, and support providers.

ICAPS Office Hours

Angela Gerberding from ICCB and the Southern Illinois Professional Development Center team will continue to hold office hours for ICAPS program development questions, issues, or concerns. We meet on the last Monday of each month at 2:00 p.m. Please pop in if you have ICAPS development questions or want assistance developing your ICAPS! ICAPS Virtual Learning Communities 

Illinois ICAPS/IET Learning Community sessions provide programs the opportunity to share information, ask questions, and learn from one another. All ICCB IET grant recipients are required to be a part of the ICAPS group. Learning communities are for participants to learn from each other and both AE and CTE/training partners should attend.

ICAPS Virtual Learning Communities take place on the second Thursday of each month at 2 PM. For access to ICAPS VLC or if you have any questions, please reach out to Sarah Goldammer at sgoldam@siue.edu or Tara Schwab at tarschw@siue.edu.
